Meet the Comforter

God will do it! Pray

Prayer is not a suggestion, it is God’s ordained way to meet the needs of his people. Christians are to continue in this way no matter contrary suggestions from the devil and other sources.

“Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms.

Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him. Anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him” James 5:13-15 (KJV)

Pressures of life can drive people to doubt the presence and the power of God; that is not new, it has been from the beginning. Believers believe God and live in confidence and trust in God’s power and love.

The scripture says in Heb. 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him” Heb. 11:6 (KJV)

  • Whatever challenge you are going through now, commit it to God in prayer and trust him to help you. That is what God wants you to do.
  • Praise God as you wait for his intervention in that matter.
  • Be sensitive to his leading, in case he wants you to take any action.
  • Be willing to obey him.
  • Some answers to prayer may not need your contribution. Just allow God to do it.
  • Be aware that the devil and his agents may come with fear and doubt. Don’t yield to them.
  • You can pray about anything and you can pray anywhere and at anytime.

God delights in helping you. Psalm 35:27.

God bless you.

The Prayer of Faith

Faith is the most important aspect of our lives as believers. Heb.11:6, says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (NIV). The prayer of faith is the prayer of an absolute trust in God. Absolute “abandonment”  in the hand of God, because you are persuaded:

  1. That God loves you in a personal way
  2. That God is all powerful and able to meet your needs
  3. That God’s promises are true and trustworthy
  4. That God is faithful and dependable
  5. That God is good and will not deny his word

Prayer of Faith is not just about the length of time or passion in prayer as much as it is about trust in God’s faithfulness. It is important to spend quality time in prayers often; however, doing so without a comprehensive active faith in God makes praying a frustrating experience. Heb.11:1, says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (NIV).

You can build your faith in God through:

  • Studying of the word
  • Meditation in the word
  • Obedience to the word
  • Believing the word
  • Taking action on the word
  • Focusing on God all through a faith thrust
  • Praising God for everything (big or small)
  • Believing that God is Holy

Faith is not about seeing the things you asked for before you know you’ve got it. It is about knowing that you’ve got it because you have asked God for it; and you have asked according to his promises. (You have asked for what you need – Phil. 4:19.)

We miss it when we become agitated, worried and fretting about our needs. Most times people never care about some of their needs until they are in the “worry zone”. There are issues that just take us unawares and get us panicky but it is important that at such times we must resolve to turn them over to the Lord and hold on to his promises and integrity.

In the prayer of faith, you do your part and allow God to do his part. You never worry that God might act too late. You believe that he makes all things beautiful in their time. God never fails.

After the prayer, you thank God for answered prayer and go away rejoicing.

In the prayer of faith you don’t go to God on your own terms; you don’t approach him on your “righteousness”. You go to him through Jesus Christ. You trust in his love and care. You believe in his faithfulness without wavering.

God said in Jer. 32:27, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” (NKJV)

People are sometimes tempted to believe that their goodness is what will move God. (That thinking comes from Old Testament mentality – The New Testament is based on Jesus’ finished work)

There are people who think that fasting or a certain length of time spent in prayer is the most important thing in prayer. The Bible did not say so. We can pray and fast as much as we wish, but we always prevail through faith, as we pray. That is the way to do it.

People of faith

Heb. 11, lists people who lived by faith; trusting God at various times for various things. They were not disappointed.

You too can be part of them.

*Some important scriptures that will aid understanding are James 5:13-15; Heb. 10:22-23; James 1:5-7; Heb.11:6. Please take some time to read them.

Hearing from God – Prayer Dimension (Spiritual Warfare)

I am sure you are interested in hearing from God or a least you want to find out few things about it.  You are not the only “person” who is interested in your interest to hear from God. So please pay attention, this post is very important.

In Genesis 3:1 the scripture says “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’? ” (NIV)

The devil is interested in your quest to hear from God and in what God tells you. Also the scripture says in Luke 4:9-12 “The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” (NIV) The devil is interested in what God says to you because he wants to manipulate it and wrestle it from your hand.

Other people may not care about whatever God says to you especially if they want you to remain ordinary. If what you said God told you might cause them to lose any part of their power or control over you, they will oppose it. Let us see some examples: Exodus 5:1-2, says, “Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the wilderness.’” Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go.” (NIV). It took a lot of spiritual warfare to make Pharaoh obey God and let Israel go out of Egypt.

2 Kings 7:1-2 says, “Elisha replied, “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seahof the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahsof barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.” The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?” “You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!” (NIV). The man in this scripture felt he was an authority and only the things that he forecasts should be taken seriously. He does not have any respect for God or his word. His comments provoked Elisha and he pronounced punishment upon him.

If you desire to hear from God, you must be prepared to pray. Some of the things prayers will do for you are:

  1. It will remove every clog on your way that can hinder you from hearing from God.
  2. Prayer will sharpen your perception and make you more excited at what God is saying.
  3. Prayers will help you with the strength to obey what God has told to do.
  4. Hearing God could become a spiritual warfare like we have read in the scripture earlier. The devil and his agents will oppose you; they are not interested in seeing the will of God done. I have seen this happen severally and the only way to prevail is through prayer.

It is spiritual blindness if anyone does not want to hear from God and actually, the devil likes it. It exposes people to greater danger and opens the gate for oppression, stagnation and slavery. It promotes a dry life and all manners of evil. I am sure you don’t want any of those.

Commit yourself to praying effectively as a Christian. You can really enjoy your Christian life if you make up your mind to pray constantly.
